Celebrate Milk Chocolate on July 28th

Assisted Living in Mobile AL

Milk Chocolate Day was created to celebrate all the good things about milk chocolate. Milk chocolate is the most common form of chocolate in drinks, bars, and snacks, so why not celebrate it withAssisted Living in Mobile AL its very own day?  The most common ingredients found in milk chocolate include condensed milk, liquid milk or milk powder. Millions of people use this delicious form of chocolate to make hot chocolate and chocolate candy.

In addition to being delicious, milk chocolate also offers a number of health benefits. While there are not as many benefits as what is offered by dark chocolate, there are still quite a few.  These health benefits can be experienced by any and everyone who eats milk chocolate, from the very young to the very old.

Brain stimulation

Milk chocolate is a stimulator – it can stimulate the emotions and brain, which can increase a person’s stamina. This can be extremely beneficial for seniors, especially since there are many who suffer from declining memory. While milk chocolate should not be eaten in excess, in small amounts it can provide this stimulation benefit.

Other nutrients

In addition to being a stimulator for the emotions and brain, there are a number of other nutrients contained in milk chocolate that can be beneficial to everyone, especially seniors. 1.5 ounces of milk chocolate has 83 milligrams of calcium, which is great for bone health, in addition to one milligram of iron. This same serving also offers a milligram of zinc and 164 milligrams of potassium. However, that’s not all, this small 1.5 ounce contains vitamin K and A, as well.

Keeping seniors healthy

There is no question that milk chocolate is yummy; however, for seniors, moderation is key. Too many sweets can result in elevated blood sugar as well as a myriad of other issues due to eating too much sugar. In many cases, it will be a good idea to allow the senior care provider to give the individual sweets when it is appropriate. They can ensure it is given in reasonable amounts that will not hurt the senior’s health, while letting them reap the health benefits, as well as the delicious flavor of milk chocolate.

There is no reason to avoid chocolate. In fact, chocolate offers a number of benefits.  On National Milk Chocolate Day, everyone should consider cutting loose and having a few pieces of milk chocolate to celebrate this special occasion. After all, this day only comes once a year and it is the perfect excuse to enjoy a yummy piece of chocolate.
